The girls survive a late-game surge from Norwalk and emerge victorious, 46-43, handing the Warriors their first conference loss of the year.

In the first quarter, Norwalk jumped out to an early lead, but Macy Meyer knocked in two threes to settle down an anxious Mustangs offense. Aniyah Boens converted a three-point play, giving DCG a 12-9 lead.

Meyer had another big quarter in the second and ended the half with 12, the total she finished the game with to lead all scorers. Ava Smid got involved with a couple of nifty moves in the lane, and Hannah Overholser of Norwalk dropped in four to make it 23-17 at the break.

In the third, Bones and Smid had another four, along with Leah Brauch and Addie Abens to extend the Mustang lead to 41-28 heading into the fourth.

In the final quarter, Norwalk fought back valiantly. Makenna Roeder made a corner pocket three to spark the offense, then Overholser nailed a couple of triples to swing the momentum. Braylyn Birmingham had seven points in the second half and dished out assist after assist. It all came down to the final possession, where Leah Brauch made two free throws to push the lead to three. Birmingham and the Warriors had one more chance but the sophomore came up short on a three and the Mustangs walked away with a thrilling 46-43 win.

With the victory, the Mustangs go to 16-2(8-1) and give Norwalk their first Little Hawkeye loss of the season. The girls will be in action next on Friday night hosting Indianola.
