The Greene County Gobblers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is hosting their annual Hunting Heritage Banquet this Saturday.

Treasurer Fred Long says they will have silent and live auctions, along with various games and raffles included in the fundraiser. He points out that the doors open at 5:30pm at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds, with the meal to begin at 7pm from Lidderdale Country Store and the live auction to follow.

Long details that the games will be for some of the drawings for prizes, with the feature item being a firearm. He states that for the general raffle, there will be three firearms that people can win of the ten prizes included and the live auction has over 40 items with it. Long points out that a special item for this year’s banquet is four bottles of bourbon that features the label of the Iowa NWTF organization from a distillery in Spencer, Iowa. He adds that the bourbon is not sold anywhere else, except for Iowa NWTF banquets.

Long explains that the proceeds from this fundraiser goes to the national organization, which a portion is then allocated back to the Iowa board to decide on projects to do in partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and County Conservation Boards to purchase public hunting land and improve habitat areas.

There are a limited number of tickets left and the cost to attend is $50 per ticket, which includes a membership, $65 for a couple, $20 for youth 17 and younger and anyone from another NWTF group is $20. Contact Long for a ticket at toast@netins.net or at the door.
