This is a week of preparation for the Greene County high school wrestling team. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams are not in competition until next Tuesday, Feb. 10 when they will take on Webster City and Woodward-Granger in Webster City in what will be the final dual meet action of the season.

Coach Beekman told Raccoon Valley Radio the focus from here on out is to get healthy and get focused on the postseason. The Rams are among eight Class 2A teams scheduled for the Sergeant Bluff-Luton District Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 14 starting at 10 a.m. The host school will be the team favorite, but the top two individuals in each of the 14 weight classes will advance to the State Tournament in Des Moines, which is Feb. 19-20-21 for 2A programs.

Greene County has not had enough wrestlers all season, and injuries and illness have shortened the lineup even more than usual. Greene County will have 10 days between competitions by the time they go to Webster City on the 10th of the month, which the coaching staff will help wrestlers get healthier.
