The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball Teams competed in a non-conference battle against Indianola in Adel on Tuesday for Coaches versus Cancer Night, as the Tiger girls won 56-26, while the boys were victorious at 79-33.
Beginning in the girls contest, ADM got off to a nice start, leading 12-6 after the one quarter. The second quarter was where the Tigers broke the game open, outscoring the Indians 15-2 to charge to a 27-8 halftime advantage. ADM racked up 17 points in the third quarter on its way to a commanding 44-19 lead, then rolled to a 56-26 win.
Individually, Tiger sophomore Ella Subbert led all scores with 13 points, followed by junior Alexis Maxwell’s 10, and sophomore Aubrey Noring contributed with 8 points. Indian junior Madison Grover was the high player with 10 points, then it was sophomore Eden Whitson and freshman Julia McGraw with 6 points each.
Indianola falls to 11-6 on the year, while ADM improves to 12-6 overall.
On the boys side, the Tigers jumped off to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter. Similar to the girls, ADM also had a powerful second quarter, tallying 26 points and holding Indianola to just 4 points to take a 43-13 advantage into halftime. The Tigers continued to grow the lead in the third quarter as they sparked out to a 62-25 lead, then 17 more points helped ADM cruise to a 79-33 victory.
The Tigers were charged by senior Hudson Shull, who had 20 points on the night, including six three pointers, followed by senior Hudson Lorensen who also finished with 20. The Indians were led by junior George Blake with 10 points, and it was junior Easton McGraw who added 7 points.
Indianola drops to 7-7 on the season, and ADM climbs to 15-2 overall.
The Indians will have another road game tomorrow in Newton, as the Tigers will hit the road to Gilbert on Friday.
