The final plan for the County Road P28/Wagon Road Pavement Rehabilitation project was recently approved.
Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern says that the project will take place this summer along the stretch of the road between Stuart and Monteith Road. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio how the work will be done.
“We had a number of options to choose from. And we narrowed it down to minimize the impact to the traveling public for time down during construction. So we chose, it’s called a crack and seat. So with this pavement, the roughness comes from the panels that are faulted, they’re sloping. So this method of construction will crack the panels, and then they’re seated onto the road bed.”
Sebern mentions that once the cracked pavement is seated in the road bed, a layer of asphalt will be put on top of it, creating the new road surface. He adds that the project is out for bids at this time, and that the exact timeframe will be dependent on the contractor who is awarded the bid, but that once that information is known it will be shared with the public.
