A Minnesota man was recently sentenced to jail for an incident that happened in Greene County.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Nicholas Walther pled guilty to an amended charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and two simple misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia and no valid driver’s license. He was sentenced to 90 days in the Greene County Jail for the aggravated misdemeanor and two days in jail for the simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia, which were to be served concurrently for a total of 90 days. He was also ordered to pay a $250 fine for the other simple misdemeanor charge.

The charges stem from an incident that happened on November 4, 2025 following a traffic stop by a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy at T Avenue and Highway 30 for driving 67 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. Court documents show that the deputy discovered that the vehicle Walther was driving was reported stolen from Freeborn County, Minnesota. The criminal complaint states that Walther also admitted to possessing marijuana and having an open container of alcohol.

Court documents show that Walther was also ordered to pay $855 of victim restitution and as per the plea agreement, the serious misdemeanor for his first offense for possession of marijuana and two simple misdemeanors for speeding and an open container were dismissed. The original charge of a Class C Felony for first degree theft was amended to the aggravated misdemeanor.
