Three athletes from Perry High School will be competing in a state athletic tournament over the next two days.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Wrestling State Competition is being held today and tomorrow at Xtream Arena in Coralville. Perry is sending juniors Amelie Canales and Ayden Erickson and senior Cate Erickson.

Canales punched her ticket to state for the first time with a second place finish at 120-pounds at the regional tournament in Ottumwa.

The Erickson sisters are making a return appearance at state after Ayden finished second at regionals at 125-pounds, while Cate won all four of her matches to place first in the 130-pound weight class.

The Jayettes will wrestle in the Class 2A session, which runs from 4:30-9 p.m. today. Should any of them advance past the first rounds, they will wrestle tomorrow, starting at 10 a.m. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the wrestling coverage live on KDLS 94.3 FM/1310 AM today.
