The Perry Jayettes wrestling season comes to a close as Jayettes fell short in the consolation rounds at the 2026 Iowa Girls State Wrestling Tournament. Amelie Canales, Cate Erickson and Ayden Erickson left it all in on the mat with some tough matches in their respective weight classes.

All three Jayettes were involved in some tough matches, with Amelie Canales leading the charge for Perry at 120 pounds. Canales, fell in her first match by major decision 10-0, but bounced back with a fire in her second match scoring 10 points to start, but unfortunately fell by fall in the first round. Both Erickson sisters won one of their matches but just fell short of the podium, with Ayden Erickson winning her first match in a close 1-0 decision while Cate battled back in her first consolation round match picking up a victory by fall in 4:53 seconds.

Canales and Cate Erickson look to return next year for their senior season while Ayden Erickson finishes her career with the Jayettes with her third trip to the girls state wrestling tournament.
