
The Stuart City Council will meet in regular session Monday night.
The Council will consider for approval an application for residential tax abatement, proposals for an employment attorney and human resources person, along with the review and consideration of cemetery committee bylaws and confidentiality statement, along with the recruitment of Services Scope. They will also discuss the appointments of the mayor pro tem, planning and zoning commission and historical preservation commission.
The Council will then discuss the Public Works Department, then consider for approval of tree removal bids, South Summit Apartments sanitation issue, and direct deposit for the City of Stuart. Also up for consideration is a request for salary contribution for the manager of the Depot, then hold a public hearing for the purpose of considering the maximum tax dollars from certain tax levies for the city’s proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget.
The Council will also consider for approval a Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP) for the Stuart Fire Department, and a resolution authorizing the second and final disbursement of funds from the Iowa Economic Development Authority Catalyst Community Building Remediation Grant for the property at 100 Northwest 2nd Street. The final items for consideration are the city audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, and a citywide transition to stuartia.gov email domain.
The meeting will end with reports from the mayor, city administrator/clerk, department heads, and council members. The meeting begins at 6pm in Council Chambers in City Hall. For those unable to attend in person, there is a digital option available through the city’s YouTube page.
