West Central Valley junior Willow Ray was the lone representative for the Wildcats at the Iowa Girls State Wrestling Tournament on Thursday, picking up one win as her junior year comes to a close.

Ray made back to back trips to the state tournament, as this year she first faced Sioux Central’s Nataley Frerk, taking the competition by an 11-4 decision. Next, she went up against Spirit Lake’s Reece Logan, being defeated in a fall in three minutes. Ray was then placed in the consolation bracket, where she had a match versus Osage’s Ayden Keefe, losing in a 5-minute fall to end her junior wrestling season.

Ray had an incredible year with a second consecutive trip to the state tournament, and was able to represent West Central Valley exceptionally well.
