For the first time since 2010, DCG boys wrestling punched their ticket to the Xtream Arena for the 3A State Team Dual Tournament that takes place this weekend in Coralville, Iowa.

The Mustangs faced off against the Ankeny Hawks in regional dual action on Tuesday night and it was a resounding DCG victory. Quinn Harris got things started with a 9-8 win, then Avery Van Zelderen snapped three wins in a row for the Hawks with a pin.

Ankeny won one more match before the Mustangs began to take over. Grant Stanford, Jackson Murray, Cole Hemmingsen, and Brayden Crosser won four bouts in succesion for DCG as the Mustangs won six of their final seven matches. Kellen Wagner, Connor Stolpe, and Lucas Sholl solidified a 44-21 win over Ankeny to earn a trip to state as a team for the first time in 16 years.
