The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office recently announced an arrest early Sunday morning.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed a red Ford Bronco traveling west at an alleged high rate of speed on Highway 44 between Panora and Guthrie Center. When the deputy engaged his emergency lights and sirens, the vehicle fled, continuing westbound. The Sheriff’s Office says the pursuit reached speeds up to 113 miles per hour, and continued westbound on Highway 44 into Audubon County. The report shows that an Audubon County Sheriff’s Deputy deployed a spike strip successfully, bringing the pursuit to an end.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, Lee Pickrel, 42 years old of Urbandale, was transported by Audubon County Emergency Medical Services for medical clearance, then taken to the Guthrie County Jail, with charges including eluding, a Class D Felony; possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor; possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; and several traffic citations. A charge of operating while intoxicated, a charge starting at serious misdemeanor, is currently pending as they wait for lab results.
