As the Perry Jayettes basketball team prepare for senior night and their last game at home of the regular season, junior Lily Myers reflected on the importance of her role as a captain and leader on this Jayettes squad.
“When (coach) Morris told me this year, that he thinks that I would be a good captain and a good leader, I really took that and embraced it and tried to be the best leader that I can.”
Myers elaborated on the importance of being vocal, and recognized the importance of praise and uplifting her squad during the highs and lows.
“I think, the encouragement when something maybe doesn’t go right, is important but it’s also important when something does go right. You need to think about the good and the bad. It’s about finding the balance.”
Myers and the Jayettes look to honor senior Karagyn Whelchel tomorrow during senior night at the final home game for the Jayettes this season. Perry plays host to the Grand View Christian Thunder tomorrow night with coverage on KDLS beginning at 5:45 with tip off for the girls first at 6.
