Raccoon River Northwest Wrestling, who Adel-DeSoto-Minburn partners with, took home a team state title Friday night.

RRNW saw three individuals crowned as state champions before winning the team title during the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Wrestling Tournament, which was held on Thursday Friday at Xtream Arena in Coralville.

RRNW scored a total of 148.5 points, ahead of Algona (112) and Southeast Polk (109) to be named back-to-back team champions.

Individually, Cassidy McCallister at weight class 105, won first place in a 4-1 decision sudden victory over Indianola’s Siera Becker. Next up, Addison McGinness in the 115 pound weight division knocked off Linn-Mar’s Kate Seery in a fall within one minute and 26 seconds to be crowned a champion, followed by Calista Rodish who also captured first place at 140 pounds, winning 15-2 major decision versus Waverly-Shell Rock’s Makana Miller.

RRNW was trying to name a fourth individual a state champion with three-time champion Katie Biscoglia on the verge of history being awarded the first girl in Iowa to win four titles with the program being sanctioned by the IGHSAU. However, Biscoglia was upset by Ankeny’s Lauren Watson, who won in a 43-second fall. Despite the loss, Biscoglia finishes her high school career with over 200 wins, only suffering two losses, and still a three-time champion.

In addition, RRNW had four more girls tally within the top-six, including Ellie Hancock (125 lbs.) and Izzy Duncan (130 lbs.) grabbing fourth, then Natalie Keller (145 lbs.) and Bella Bruins (155 lbs.) notching sixth. RRNW took 11 girls total to the state tournament, as Bethann Templeman, Kadyn Tierney and Mya Van Beek were the other individuals.
