A Scranton woman was recently arrested for an alleged theft incident.

According to court documents, a vehicle was reported stolen from Scranton, along with about $14,000 of items, which the victim said was due to when the victim was moving. Court documents show that the victim had another person sign for the registration, 61-year-old Karen Gillman, because of the victim’s driving record but that the victim owned the vehicle.

Court documents indicate during the investigation, the vehicle was found at a Boone home, where the resident told deputies that Gillman sold the vehicle to him, along with a title and a bill of sale, but that Gillman said she would let him know when to pick up the vehicle. The affidavit reports that the Boone resident went to Gillman’s home in Scranton on October 3rd, and she didn’t mention not being able to take possession of the vehicle, so the resident went to a gas station and when he got back, Gillman was gone. The Boone resident left with the vehicle.

Court documents state that the items were left at another residence, where he would get them back to Gillman, at her request. The criminal complaint states that Gillman received a duplicate title in August because Gillman claimed the victim’s girlfriend would take it to a junkyard. Investigators found out that Gillman wanted to get rid of the vehicle after she was allegedly abused by the victim. Gillman later told investigators that she denied the Boone resident came to her home on October 3rd.

An arrest warrant was then issued on January 16th charging Gillman was a Class C Felony for aiding and abetting in a first degree theft. She was arrested on February 6th and was booked into the Greene County Jail under a $10,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
