Adel-DeSoto-Minburn sophomore Alabama Astley is gearing up to compete in the Class 2A State Bowling Meet tomorrow in Waterloo.
The Tigers participated in the Class 2A Region 2 State Qualifying Meet at Perfect Games Alley in Ames on January 2nd, racking up 1856 total points, as Astley tallied 507 pins through three games. She says that Head Coach Sarah Boesen is a positive influence who is constantly supporting the girls. ADM concluded the regular season with a record of 7-3 in their second year as a standalone program, compared to 4-7 in their inaugural season. Astley advanced to the state meet last year, and is stoked to be back.
“I’m really excited because it’ll be nice to do it a second year in a row. It’s pretty cool.”
Astley will compete in the Class 2A Individual section against members from schools of Decorah, Le Mars, Davenport North, Keokuk, Clinton, Oskaloosa, North Scott, Mason City, Newton, Waverly-Shell Rock, Mount Pleasant, Lewis Central, and Fort Dodge. The Class 2A Individual Tournament is taking place tomorrow at Cadillac XBC in Waterloo, starting at 9am.
