
The Greene County and Southeast Valley girls and boys varsity basketball teams played a non-conference twin bill last night in Gowrie with the Rams winning the girls’ game 64-23 and SEV taking the boys by a 69-39 final.
The Rams improved to 6-15 on the season while the Jaguars fell to 2-17. Senior Kaycee Pittman had a career high 28 points and she made eight goals from three-point range. Those are the most three’s a Greene County girls’ basketball player has made in a single game. Senior Becca Anderson had 16 points and junior Makenna Ebersole added 10 points. The Rams led 37-12 at halftime in a game the Rams scored the most points in the five seasons Tori Ogden has been head coach.
The SEV boys are 18-1 while the Rams fell to 3-17. The Rams were in the game the first half and led 15-12 late in the first quarter. SEV held a 35-27 halftime lead, then blew the game open to win by 30 points. Thirty-four turnovers did the Rams in. Junior Zack Stalder scored 12 points to lead the Rams while SEV had 16 from junior Bryce Harrison.
The last regular season games of the season and Heart of the Iowa Activities Conference are tonight for the Rams and its Senior Night. South Hamilton (Jewell) visits the high school gym in Jefferson for a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
