The Paton-Churdan Rockets ended the basketball regular season with a girl/boy doubleheader on Monday night in Westside vs. Ar-We-Va. P-C went 1-1 in the twin bill with a girls final of 38-30 in favor of P-C and the boys’ contest ended with AWV winning by a 60-57 score.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s P-C girls are 4-17 and were led in scoring by junior Ella Tasler with 10 points. Junior Kaliyah Minnihan and freshman Edynn Smith each had eight points and junior Alivya Smith scored seven points. The AWV girls are 0-21 and were led in scoring by Mara Obrecht with 16 points.
The P-C boys are 7-14 and AWV is 14-7. Coach Josh Cerveny said his team lost on a shot at the buzzer. Junior Trevon Keely scored 17 points with 16 from senior Phoenix Hartman. The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio “This one falls squarely on my shoulders as I receive w t’s in the first quarter. Our players deserved better than the result we got tonight. I am super proud of the effort we played with tonight. Credit to number 20 on Ar-We-Va. The kid hit an incredible game winner.” Wyatt Ragaller is the AWV players that made the game winner and he finished with 32 points.
All that remains is the postseason with the girls starting on Feb. 12 vs. Glidden-Ralston in Glidden.
