The West Central Valley Basketball Teams were in Stuart on Tuesday playing against Woodward-Granger for a West Central Conference matchup, as the Wildcat girls won 37-33, and the boys fell 49-44.

In the girls contest, the first quarter was competitive, as the Hawks led 11-8. However, during the second quarter, the Wildcats responded, outscoring Woodward-Granger 12-7 to take a 20-15 advantage into halftime. Both teams were near even in scoring in the third quarter, as West Central Valley was in front 31-25. 

In the final frame, the Wildcats lead 33-26 with under four minutes, but a quick 7-0 spurt by the Hawks had them trailing 34-33 with less than a minute remaining. Woodward-Granger had the ball late and a foul was called on the Hawks with 3.6 seconds, which then resulted in a technical foul on Woodward-Granger Head Coach Brad Kunecke and West Central Valley junior Addilyn Richter made two free throws to go on to secure the 37-33 win.

The Hawks fall to 13-7 on the season (9-5 WCC) and the Wildcats improve to 8-15 overall (5-10 WCC).

On the boys side, a total of 10 points were scored in the first quarter, as Woodward-Granger held a 7-3 lead. The Hawks won the second quarter by eight points, possessing a 22-10 advantage at halftime. The Wildcats got back into the game in the third quarter, trailing 29-27 heading into the fourth. During the final eight minutes, a combined 37 points were accumulated between the teams, as Woodward-Granger held on for the 49-44 victory.

The Hawks climb to 13-8 on the year (9-6 WCC), while the Wildcats drop to 12-10 overall (5-9 WCC).

West Central Valley boys conclude the regular season, and the girls will host Logan-Magnolia for the Class 2A Region 2 contest on Saturday in Stuart at 7pm.
