The Mustangs boys basketball team had a firm grasp on this game throughout to sweep the season series against Pella Christian with a 57-43 win on Tuesday night.
Coming off a record-setting nine threes on Friday night against Indianola, Chase Perrin had the hot hand once more in the first quarter. He knocked down a pair of triples along with a midrange jumper, but Gilbert Flagel of the Eagles had nine as it was 12 all at the end of the frame.
In the second, Perrin and Brody Logan both hit threes, but it was a defensive quarter as DCG held the Eagles to just seven points to take a 25-17 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, it was the Luke Lorenzen show. He had eight points in the frame, all coming from the painted area, including one two-handed jam. Perrin had five to build upon the Mustang lead as they took a 38-31 advantage into the fourth.
In the final quarter, Lorenzen continued his dominance. He had nine more points to finish with seventeen on the night. Perrin hit another huge three to put his points tally at 24. Lorenzen had the final word in this one, however, catching a fast break alley-oop off the backboard from Hudson Heidgerken and throwing it down to put an exclamation point on a 57-43 win.
With the victory, DCG goes to 11-7(6-4). DCG sits third in the Little Hawkeye and look to improve as they head to Pella tomorrow night.
