The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.
The Board approved two School Budget Review Committee requests for administrative costs to Grandwood for $13,937 and Woodward Academy for $8,312. They also approved two fundraiser requests for National Honor Society and FCCLA as presented, but did not take action on a fundraiser for the boys track team, due to some concerns with the 20 percent of a monetary donation that the company, Adrenaline Fundraising, was wanting to have.
The Board then voted 3-2 to deny a resolution to transfer an amount not to exceed $10,000 from the general fund to the student activity fund. Activities Director David Wright explained that state law allowed for this kind of transfer to purchase safety equipment for different sports, such as refurbishing and/or replacing helmets for the football team. Board President Cindi Daubendiek voiced concerns about declining enrollment impacting the overall general fund, along with paying over $20,000 to start a girls wrestling program, that she wanted to protect the general fund in favor of the teachers and their salaries. The Board members that voted to deny the transfer included Daubendiek, Tim Riphagen and Connie Boyd.
Next, the Board approved a proposal from Carroll Control Systems for $30,450 for glycol to be put into the hot water boiler system at the middle school to prevent freezing that occurred recently. They also approved an out of state trip request for the band to go to Kansas City, Missouri, set a public hearing for the 2026-27 school calendar for March 11th at 5:15pm and OPN Architects for design and architectural services for a new ticketing booth and restroom project at Linduska Field and a $25,282 quote for a short throw projector for the high school auditorium.
