The Jayettes basketball team wrapped up the regular season on the road on Thursday, falling to the Webster City Lynx 53-22. Lily Myers and Karagyn Whelchel lead the offensive charge for Perry scoring in the double digits.
It was a back and forth contest in the first half with the Jayettes defense putting up a strong showing in the first quarter, just behind the Lynx at 9-5. Big threes by Whelchel helped keep Perry in the fight with a halftime score of 22-13 in favor of the Lynx. Lily Myers continued to attack the paint and ended the night with 16 points to help Perry remain behind by nine in the third, but a run by the Lynx in the fourth established Webster City’s lead 53-22.
The Jayettes wrap up the regular season with a 4-16 record, and prepare for the first round of regionals on Wednesday as Perry is set to travel to Lewis Central High School to face off against the Titans. Tip off is scheduled for 7pm.
