The Iowa House introduced the Iowa Skilled Workforce Act recently.
Representative for District 23 Ray Sorensen says that the bill works to maybe help try and fill workforce shortages in different areas. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he believes is the end goal with the bill.
“The goal here is, it strengthens workforce pipelines through career training, apprenticeships and employer education partnerships. So if Iowa wants to compete nationally, we have to win on workforce.”
Sorensen mentions that not all successful paths require a four year degree, and that those opportunities need to be supported just as aggressively as careers that do require degrees. He adds that talent drives economic growth.
