The West Central Valley Boys Bowling Team is gearing up for the Class 1A Iowa High School State Qualifying Meet in Carroll on Monday.

The Wildcats have won meets this season against Creston, Lenox, and Mount Ayr. West Central Valley finished third in their last meet on February 9th versus Mount Ayr and Southeast Warren. Monday’s State Qualifying Meet will see the Wildcats face some different schools, including Greene County, Harlan Community, Kuemper Catholic, Carroll, MMCRU, OABCIG, and Vinton-Shellsburg. West Central Valley Head Coach Chris Partlow believes in the boys, but knows it will be an uphill climb.

“It’s going to be a tough battle. Greene County, I know those boys are shooting around 331’s, so that’s a lot of pins for us to make up on our end, but they are very confident, and they’re not going to give up, so we’ll keep plugging away. And it will be good for them just in general just to see some really good bowlers. There’s going to be a good slew of bowlers there that are 200 (to) 210 average bowlers.”

According to the Iowa High School Athletic Association, the top team in Class 1A will advance to the state meet as well as the top four individuals. The meet for the Wildcats is taking place at Starline Lanes in Carroll on Monday, beginning at 10am.
