A long awaited project with the Greene County School District took its first real major step forward with contracting an architect firm.

The Greene County School Board approved a proposal from OPN Architects for $69,300 to do the design and bid phases, while also being the lead on the building of a new ticketing booth and restroom area at Linduska Field. Superintendent Brett Abbotts explains why the Board had to go through the initial step of hiring an architect firm.

“The total cost of the facility is going to exceed the threshold that is set by the state where we legally have to go through this process to accept competitive bids and have a number of different scopes completed.”

Abbotts points out that OPN Architects is a familiar entity as they were the company that helped lead the building of the new high school. He adds that the proposed timeline includes a kickoff meeting the week of March 30th, with an anticipated construction start date of July 1st.
