For the third year in a row, the AC/GC Chargers wrestling team will send six athletes to the state wrestling tournament.
The Chargers hit the mats at the regional tournament hosted at Colfax-Mingo, where the six athletes competed well enough to move on, three of which competed at the state tournament last year. Senior Chase Slaybaugh snagged second place in the 120 weight class, while fellow senior Charlie Christensen won the 144 weight division, and junior Ryder Cline took second in the 150 weight class. Sophomore Lane Stringer, along with seniors Carter Richter and Jack Sheeder all secured a second place finish in the 157, 215, and 285 weight classes respectively.
The Chargers will take part in the state tournament at the Casey Center in Des Moines beginning Wednesday and going through Friday. A full list of results for the team can be found in this story online.
