With the state wrestling tournament having come and gone marking the end of the 2025-26 Jayettes wrestling season, assistant coach Mike Peterson is excited and hopeful for the future of Jayettes wrestling.

Looking ahead towards the future, coach Peterson hopes to see an influx of new faces on the squad next season, coming up from middle school wrestling.

“We’ve seen some good numbers the last couple of years. They fluctuate a little bit, same with the high school. You start the season kind of strong and then you start to lose them after three to four weeks. Middle school, this year, I think they’re looking at 22 girls and about half of those are 8th graders. So we’ll be hoping to keep all of them as they come into freshman year next year which, would be a great influx.”

Coach Peterson and the Jayettes are excited for the future of the program with a fresh set of faces ready to jump to the varsity level.
