A reminder that Jefferson Telecom will no longer be a cellular service provider by the end of this week.

According to the company, the decision to end this service follows the ongoing shifts in the cellular industry once UScellular was acquired by T-Mobile USA, Incorporated. General Manager Jamie Daubendiek says it was not an easy decision, but the increasing limitations of what they could and could not do as a non-transitioning agent made it difficult for staff and customers. He believes this was the best path forward to reduce customer frustration and provide clarity moving ahead.

Judy Schulte, with Jefferson Telecom, says they will continue to operate as a strong, local provider of delivering internet, landline and television services, with plans to expand their fiber internet footprint to serve surrounding communities in the future.

The company says the current UScellular customers will not have their service interrupted and their accounts will remain active. These customers can still get cellular service this week at Jefferson Telecom, but starting Saturday, any further help they may need, they can contact UScellular directly at 611 from their device or online at uscellular.com
