The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center FFA Chapter is celebrating a significant achievement, with 18 members recently earning the prestigious Iowa Degree.
Advisor Skie Shull notes the rarity of this honor, as only five percent of applicants typically receive the State Degree each year. This year’s group is the largest the chapter has seen in several years, surpassing last year’s 10 recipients. The recipients are all upperclassmen, comprising 10 seniors and eight juniors. Their Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) cover a variety of areas, including ag mechanics repair & maintenance placement, beef placement, ag service, landscape management and several more.
With this year’s 18 recipients, the AC/GC FFA Chapter, including alumni from the Adair – Casey and Guthrie Center chapters, has reached a total of 235 members who have received the Iowa Degree. Shull attributes much of the chapter’s success to its strong alumni network, many of whom remain in the community and actively assist members with various activities throughout the year.
