A Perry man was recently arrested for an alleged sexual abuse incident.

According to court documents, the Perry Police Department was notified about the alleged incident from a report by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and from the Blank Children’s STAR Center. Court documents show that the incident happened on June 23, 2025 when the teenage victim, who the suspect, 50-year-old Shawn Jones, claimed was a friend of his daughter’s,  was riding on the back of his motorcycle, as he was giving her a ride to a party, and held the victim’s hand on the groin area of his pants. The criminal complaint notes that Jones denies any wrongdoing. 

The arrest warrant was issued on February 12th, charging Jones with a Class C Felony for third degree sexual abuse. He was arrested on February 17th and a temporary no contact order is in place with the victim. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
