Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School will be sending one entry to this weekend’s Iowa High School Speech Association All-State Festival.
ADM’s Group Improvisation ensemble of Caleb Klassen, Nick Subbert, Owen Royer and Devin Morey were selected for the All-State Festival following the state large group contest earlier this month.
Morey, a junior, says while this was the first year the group performed in improv together, they wanted the chance to be represented at All-State.
“I think we were all very dedicated and we all had one goal in mind from the beginning to just make it to All-State as a performing group. And I think because we all shared that common goal, we were able to work together quite well and I think that is what was the driving factor between all of our performances.”
Fellow junior Klassen describes his emotions when he saw the group received an All-State performing nomination.
“I was just overcome with excitement. I was actually at my friend’s house at the time and I just went outside and started doing laps around the block and just cheering. I was so excited.”
ADM’s Group Improv team will perform at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday during the All-State Festival at Iowa State University.
