Both Adair and Guthrie Counties have been issued burn bans.
According to a press release from Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper, the burn bans went into effect at 3pm Wednesday afternoon. No one is allowed to engage in open burning in either county, unless specifically permitted under Iowa Code 100.40(3). The ban will remain in place until Cooper notifies the State Fire Marshall’s Office that conditions are no longer dangerous to life or property. Any violation of the burn ban will be cited as a simple misdemeanor. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
