The Stuart Police Department made a felony arrest in the early hours on Thursday.
According to the department, Stuart Police Officers located a vehicle believed to be driven by 38 year old Jeffery Stonehocker of Redfield in an apartment complex parking lot. Stonehocker was wanted in Linn County on a warrant for failure to appear for sentencing regarding a domestic abuse case. Officers, along with deputies from the Adair and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Offices, performed a search of the area but were unable to initially locate the individual.
The department shares that officers remained in the area for surveillance, and after a short time the vehicle left the property. A traffic stop was attempted, but Stonehocker allegedly fled, leading a pursuit eastbound on Interstate 80. The department states that during the pursuit, Stonehocker’s vehicle ended up with severe tire damage, eventually being forced to come to a stop. The department notes that Stonehocker was taken into custody, charged with a Class D Felony for eluding, a serious misdemeanor for driving while license is suspended, and several simple misdemeanors for traffic violations. He was then transported to the Adair County Jail.
