The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Wrestling Team took four individuals to the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines, as the Tigers opened up on Wednesday for Class 3A, advancing senior Grayson Sutter and junior Ethan Johnson to the semifinals.
Sutter, who competes in the 138 pound weight division, beat Valley, West Des Moines’ Kash Kiner with a 13-3 major decision, while Johnson, at weight class 150, won his first match over Boone’s Owen Thomas in a 19-4 technical fall.
ADM took two other wrestlers, including freshman Paxton Sutter, in weight class 106, but he lost to Iowa City High’s Jack Litton in an 11-1 major decision and Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln’s Braydon Tranmer in a 20-4 technical fall.
Tiger senior Henry Krug, in weight class 165, was defeated by Boone’s Brody Warrick in a 18-3 technical fall, followed by an 18-0 technical fall to Johnston’s Kinnick Thompson. Unfortunately, both Paxton Sutter and Krug’s season has come to an end.
Grayson Sutter and Johnson will move onto the Class 3A Semifinals, which will get underway tomorrow, beginning at 5pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will broadcast live coverage from the Casey’s Center in Des Moines.
