
It’s day two of the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament at Casey’s Center in Des Moines, but the first day of competition for the Greene County Rams. Coach Zach Beekman and his coaching staff will have three Rams on the mats in Class 2A in the 2:30 p.m. session. The session will have a first round, second round, and a second consolation round. Two losses today and a wrestler will be eliminated from the tournament.
Junior Jaron Jacobs at 120 lbs. will be the lone Ram in the first round as Brennan Jacobs at 106 and Degan Miller at 165 have first round byes because they are number eight seeds in their weight class. The heavier Jacobs is seeded in the 11 position and he will face Carson Tedrow of Carroll in round one while other two Rams will wait to see who wins in the opening round. Jacobs was a 7-2 winner on Feb. 14 in the District 8 final over Tedrow.
All area wrestlers’ matches will be broadcast play-by-play on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Today’s action starts with Class 1A wrestling at 9 a.m. at Casey’s Center.
