A local leader in Perry was recently recognized for their service to the community through an annual award.
The Perry Rotary Club presented Clark Wicks with the 2025 Civil Servant of the Year Award during Monday’s Perry City Council meeting.
Wicks is currently serving his ninth and final year as Perry’s superintendent after announcing his retirement for the end of this school year. He previously served as superintendent for the Orient-Macksburg Schools and elementary principal for Perry Schools.
Wicks was nominated for the Civil Servant of the Year Award by Eddie Diaz, director for the Perry DMACC VanKirk Career Academy. Diaz says Wicks has demonstrated a commitment to public service, placing the needs of students, schools and the Perry community at the center of every decision.
“As Clark retires this year, his positive, calm, and forward–thinking approach will be deeply missed. He leaves behind a stronger, more resilient school system and a legacy of leadership rooted in integrity, service and care for others.”
He adds that Wicks exemplifies the Perry Rotary’s motto of “Service above Self.”
