For the first time since the beginning of this decade the Greene County Rams do not have any top eight place finishers at the Iowa High School State Wresting Tournament. Juniors Brennan Jacobs (1o6 lbs.), Jaron Jacobs (120), and Degan Miller (165) all won matches at Casey’s Center in downtown Des Moines, but weren’t able to pile up enough wins to earn medals as a top eight place winner.

The Jacobs twins each wrestled four times, winning two matches and losing two. Brennan missed the top eight by one victory while Jaron needed two more wins to reach the top eight. Miller was fifth at 165 as a sophomore, but went 1-2 this time.

The Jacobs twins have qualified for the last two State Wrestling Tournaments and Miller has wrestled in three. That trio formed the nucleus of Coach Zach Beekman’s team, which overall was short on both numbers of wrestlers and varsity experience. There were no seniors on the team.
