West Central Valley had three individuals at the Iowa High School Boys State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines, and all of their seasons came to an end on Thursday.

Wildcats’ Tryce Dlouhy, Drew Teague, and Tyler Peugh all made their first appearances at the state wrestling tournament this year, participating in the Class 2A section, which got underway on Thursday.

Peugh, in weight class 113, first faced Lisbon’s Jack Gogel and was defeated in a fall, lasting one minute and 15 seconds. Peugh then entered the consolation round, where he lost to Nashua-Plainfield’s Jagger White in an 8-0 major decision.

West Central Valley’s Teague, representing weight class 126, was beaten by Emmetsburg’s CJ Rodriguez in a fall (1:52), and then was defeated by Colfax-Mingo’s Carson Fitch by a technical fall in the consolation bracket.

Finally, Wildcats’ Dlouhy matched up against West Hancock’s Jacoby Subject, dropping in a fall (3:46), and then lost to Underwood’s Kaleb Nelson in a fall (5:28) in his consolation round.

All three guys will be returning to the West Central Valley Boys Wrestling Team next year, as Teague is a freshman, with Dlouhy and Peugh being sophomores.
