Adel-DeSoto-Minburn junior Ethan Johnson will compete for seventh place at the Iowa High School Athletic Association Boys State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines today.

Johnson, in weight class 150, faced Dowling Catholic’s Jayden Zachary on Friday, where he was defeated in a 9-4 decision and has now placed him in the seventh place match today. Johnson will be going up against Pleasant Valley’s Soren Kelsall for seventh place.

Earlier in the tournament, Johnson received a first round bye, followed by a 19-4 technical fall win over Boone’s Owen Thomas, and then was beaten by Clinton’s Danny Peters to put him in the consolation bracket.

The Class 3A Consolation Semifinals that Johnson will be participating in, is taking place at 9am this morning at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines. Raccoon Valley Radio will have live coverage of the tournament on KDLS in Perry, KGRA in Jefferson, and KKRF in Stuart.
