DCG girls basketball begins postseason play in the second round of regional action tonight as they welcome the Webster City Lynx inside the Meadows Main Gym.
Webster City is coming off a victory against the Boone Toreadores in the first round of the 4A playoffs by a score of 42-36. In that game, the two teams were evenly matched throughout the first four quarters, and it required overtime before a winner was decided. The Lynx were down going into the fourth and clawed their way back to tie the game and outscored Boone 8-2 in the extra period. Sophomore Evie Davis had a remarkable 21 point 26 rebound performance, locking down a double-double to lead Webster City to a win.
After securing at least a share of the Little Hawkeye conference title for the sixth straight year, the Mustangs had a bye in the first round of the playoffs. They used that time to shorten practices but increase the intensity. At this time of the season, teams don’t get a chance to go hard in practice, so head coach Adam Jones turned the energy up to eleven to keep his girls sharp.
Now raring to go, DCG tips off at 7 pm tonight inside the Meadows Main Gym. You can catch the action on KDLS2 at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
