National FFA Week runs through Saturday and the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Chapter is celebrating with a variety of fun activities.

ADM FFA Advisor McKenzie Gettler says the week will include dress-up days and contests for the high school students. Today is Blue and Gold Day and the chapter will hold an Advisory Pie Eating Contest. Tomorrow is FFA Day and a Find the Three Lil’ Piggies Contest will be held.

Wednesday is Carhartt Day and a Count the Kernels Contest will be held at lunch. Thursday is Denim/Jorts Day and ADM FFA Chapter members will serve a staff appreciation breakfast along with a Hog Calling Contest. Flannel FriDay will round out the week.

Gettler says FFA Week is a good way to highlight ADM’s Chapter along with the agricultural industry.

“We only chartered in 2015, so we’re still a really young FFA Chapter. And we’re super proud of the fact that we’ve been able to grow our membership from very small to a relatively large group. We’re excited to show off with our school and our community a little bit about what we’ve been up to and talk with everyone about the benefits of the national FFA organization, which is to develop those leadership skills. And just to celebrate the agricultural industry in general and try to educate our school on what agriculture is all about and all the opportunities that we have. It’s a fun and easy way to celebrate our chapter, the national FFA organization and just agriculture as a whole with our school and our community.”

Gettler adds that additional activities will be held after spring break once the weather is a bit nicer. Those will include a Drive Your Tractor to School Day along with a truck show sponsored by the ADM FFA Alumni.
