Many in the community of Guthrie Center are excited for this summer.

Main Street Guthrie Center Executive Director Becky Petersen says that with the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa committee choosing the community as an overnight stop, residents, government and businesses alike are preparing. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the atmosphere that has been permeating around the town.

“We’re excited that they saw our town as a great opportunity for an overnight visit. We are one of the smallest towns, so we’re super excited for the opportunity it presents to our town. There’s going to be a lot of people who can come through, see what our town has to offer, and that just gives them more of an insight of what we have to offer so that when they go back home, they’ll have that mental note of, ‘Guthrie Center was awesome.’”

Petersen mentions that this is a great opportunity to showcase the town to those visiting for the event, in hopes that they will come back to enjoy even more experiences.
