Coach Tom Kennedy’s Paton-Churdan girls’ basketball team finished the 2025-26 season with a 4-18 record, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. The four wins are the most in girls’ basketball at the school, one of Iowa’s smallest public high schools, in the last five seasons.
Ava Minnehan was the lone senior starter and Madison Roper was the only other senior on the team. Coach Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio this group improved a lot during the season and he’s optimistic the growth will continue next season with so many players returning.
Junior AlivyaSmith led the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game and was the top rebounder at 5.8 per contest. The P-C team averaged 29.9 points per game 28.4 rebounds. Freshman Edynn Smith had a 7.1 scoring average and junior Kaliyah Minnihan was at 6.5 points per contest. No one else averaged more than three points per game.
