
Today kicks off the next round of high school speech competitions.
Greene County and Paton-Churdan are competing at the Iowa High School Speech Association District Individual Contest at Johnston High School.
Greene County Co-Speech Coach Kelley Gray says seven students are participating in nine categories including Prose, Poetry, Expository, Videocasting, Literary Program and Solo Musical Theater. She is looking forward to everyone having their best performances today.
P-C Speech Coach Amanda Tasler says there are 11 students competing in 14 categories, including After Dinner Speech, Original Oratory, Prose, Poetry, Literary Program, Solo Musical Theater and Improv.
According to IHSSA, a student qualifies for state if they receive a Division I-Rating from the judge. Raccoon Valley Radio will have the complete results early next week. The full list of students and what they are competing incan be found below.
