This Saturday will be the next induction class to the Greene County High School Fine Arts Hall of Fame.

According to Activities Director David Wright, five individuals have been selected for the 2026 Induction Class and they span from their high school graduation years from 1959 to 2017. Wright states the 1959 Jefferson High School graduate D. Douglas Miller was a four-time All-Stater in band for the French horn and he is a professor of music at Penn State University. Wright says the next inductee is a 1971 Jefferson High School graduate Kate Cuddy, as she was a commercial studio artist, a composer and producer, who has over 100 advertising jingles and corporate music packages.

Wright points out the next individual is a 1979 Jefferson High School graduate who taught band for 39 years in Iowa, with Marty Aldrich, who was also named to the state conference during his time at Clarinda and nominated “One of the best band directors in Iowa.” He states a 1997 Jefferson-Scranton graduate is Peter Thompson, with his accolades including a three-time All-Stater in instrumental music, an All-State Jazz selection and was a successful middle school band director.

Wright says the most recent inductee from this class is a 2017 Greene County High School graduate with Michael Kennedy. He notes that Kennedy was a three-time All-State Chorus selection, an All-State Jazz Choir selection, won an outstanding soloist award at the Iowa Vocal Jazz Championships and an Outstanding Performer Award.

Wright details that the event will be on Saturday, with a reception at 4pm in the high school commons, followed by the induction ceremony at 4:30pm.
