A holiday honoring women will be celebrated this weekend in Perry.

Organizer Carol Cavanaugh says the community is invited to attend the International Women’s Day event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at the Hotel Pattee.

Cavanaugh highlights that four individuals will speak during the program, including Kathryn Severing Fox, Lois Hoger, Ruby Herrera and Darcy Maulsby, who will give the keynote address. WHO 13 Cinthia Naranjo, who has ties to Perry, will serve as the announcer.

Cavanaugh describes the theme for this year’s celebration, “GivetoGain.”

“Each year features a unique theme and signature pose to promote the International Women’s Day campaign. And 2026 is ‘GivetoGain,’ which is focusing on generosity, cooperation, togetherness, harmony and understanding. When people, organizations and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increases. The pose this year is cupping your hands and reaching out as if giving someone something.”

Cavanaugh details that the program is open to everyone and no reservations are required. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. and while there is no fee to attend, free-will donations are welcome. She adds that pastries, coffee and tea will be served and door prizes will be handed out, provided by local women-owned businesses.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations of feminine hygiene products that will go to Perry High School and the local food pantry.

Cavanaugh notes that a soup and salad luncheon will follow the event at the hotel for $10 per person.
