
A Guthrie Center man was sentenced for crimes against a minor.
Clinton Matthias, 62 of Guthrie Center, was convicted and sentenced on two Class B Felonies, a Class C Felony and a Class D Felony. He initially entered a plea deal, pleading guilty to third degree sexual abuse of a child victim member of the same household (Class C) and enticing a minor under 16 for sexual purposes (Class D).
In agreement with the sentencing for these two charges, Matthias will serve an indeterminate amount of time not to exceed 10 years for the Class C Felony, and an indeterminate amount of time not to exceed five years for the Class D Felony, with both terms to be served concurrently. He is also obligated to pay fines totaling $4,225, register as a sexual offender, and complete the sex offender treatment program. Matthias is also charged a civil penalty of $260, is subject to special sentencing requirements of Iowa Code Chapter 903B, and shall abide by a no contact order for a period of five years to protect the victim.
Matthias also entered a plea of guilty to two counts of second degree sexual abuse of a child (Class B). Regarding these charges, he is sentenced to an indeterminate amount of time not to exceed 25 years for both, and will serve them concurrently to each other, but consecutively to the sentences for the Class C and D Felonies. Matthies will be fined a total of $1,930, register as a sexual offender, and complete the sex offender treatment program. He is also charged a civil penalty of $260, is subject to special sentencing requirements of Iowa Code Chapter 903B, and shall abide by a no contact order for a period of five years to protect the victim.
