District 12 Senator Amy Sinclair
There was a health related bill that was discussed in the Iowa Senate during the seventh week of the Legislative session.
Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that the bill looks at certifications for medication aides. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the bill should make certification for those individuals working as medication aides to be more portable.
“Having a standard of practice for those med-aids is important. This is not necessarily a licensure, though it is more a registry, so that folks who have taken appropriate trainings and passed those tests can be registered, so that our long-term care facilities or our hospitals can rest assured that the people that they’re hiring know what they’re doing.”
Sinclair mentions that the bill goes with this path, as additional licensors can end up being in the way. She adds that this may be one of the files that does not advance when it comes to deadlines like the second funnel week.
