The Big 10 Conference Wrestling Tournament is March 7-8 hosted by number one ranked Penn State. In the pre-seeds released early this week, 2023 Greene County High School graduate Kale Petersen was not in the posted lineup for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The redshirt sophomore posted a 17-4 record at 141 lbs. this season and although a number of those victories were in open tournaments, Petersen did post Big 10 dual meet wins vs. Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Purdue.

Nasir Bailey, the Arkansas State transfer, and former NCAA Division I All-American is the Hawkeyes’ choice to wrestle at 141 in the Big 10 Tournament. Petersen and Bailey have split time in the dual meet lineup this season.

Petersen is a three-time Iowa High School State Champion and the last two of those titles came while wrestling for the Greene County Rams in 2022 and ’23. He’s a product of Sebolt Wrestling Academy in Jefferson.
