Burn bans in both Adair and Guthrie Counties were lifted this morning.

According to Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper, the burn bans which have been in effect since February 18th were lifted at 10am by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. This means that individuals may safely conduct open burns, such as the burning of small brush piles, without the possibility of being cited. Cooper mentions it is always a good idea to also let your local fire department know when you are conducting any open or controlled burn, that way they are aware that it is under control should someone call it in.
